I am happy to announce some of the upcoming performances of my original music happening in April-May 2023.
Vetrarþoka / Winter Fog art song
- to be performed as part of the concert series “Ár íslenska einsöngslagsins” (The year of the Icelandic art song) 23rd April at Salurinn music hall, Kópavogur, Iceland. Performed by the fantastic soprano Jóna G. Kolbrúnardóttir. Previously, the great tenor Gissur Páll Gissurarson has performed my song Vornótt (Spring Night) in the same concert series.
heim / hem / home for kvintett
- Earlier this year my old friend and clarinetist Kaisa Ström invited me to write a piece for her and her four colleagues, the teachers of Svenska Barnsymfonikerna (The Swedish Children’s symphony). The music is to be world premiered at a “Nordic master pieces” concert on 21st May 2023 at the Royal Academy of Music, Stockholm, Sweden. The piece is written for Bb clarinet, Bb trumpet, bodhrán frame drum, violin and cello. The concert will be recorded so I hope I can share a recording of the piece on my website soon. It should then appear here: http://helgiingvarsson.com/mixedensembles
Ég held um smáa hendi (Little hands lullaby) art song
- commissioned by soprano Rannveig Káradóttir and finished in April 2023. The song will be premiered in Germany. Venue and date soon announced.
And one recent past performance: Kordía Chamber Choir (Kordía, kór Háteigskirkju) performed my choral works Festum nunc celebre / Nú er á himni og jörð and Heim himnaveginn (Heavenly road home) last April 4th in Háteigskirkja church, Reykjavík, Iceland. This performance was part of their album release concert “Himindaggir” (Heaven dew), but their album (with the same name) features new music for SATB and SSAATTBB choir.
The album is on e.g. Spotify:
