Research update: I started transcribing the 11 handwritten orchestral parts of the 1944 „Spellbound“ (Í álögum) operetta into digital form so that the orchestral arrangement of composer Sigurður Þórðarson can be analysed and performed. The orchestral score of the operetta has not yet been found despite a thorough search in Icelandic Music Information Centre, RÚV, the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, the Icelandic Music Museum and the Icelandic Opera, making this work important so that the overall vision of the operetta is not lost. There is a lot of material to cover, some 38 songs, and that does not include several narrations (spoken text with musical accompaniment) and numerous unsung instrumental numbers such as preludes, interludes and dances. The transcription is sponsored by STEF's Notation Fund.
